Meditation (Dhyana) is basically concentration and cultivating inner awareness.
Meditation can be thought of as mindful, focused concentration, reflection, deep introspection, well defined breath awareness, contemplation these are a few of many descriptions we can use to describe what it can mean for you. You have seen the formal posture where a person is sitting cross-legged on a cushion seemingly silent without a thought or distraction. That couldn't be farther from the truth. Meditation can bring the thoughts in waves and intensity because suddenly you are listening! More disciplined meditation work, can and will bring you to higher states of consciousness that is quite profound, and life changing. Meditation is not about stopping your thoughts, but to recognize that you are not your thoughts. Have you ever questioned who is actually watching all this thinking? The higher mind and lower mind are different levels of consciousness. We aim to bring our awareness to a higher vibration thereby opening ourselves to a new perspective and seeing things in another way. This practice evolves with you encouraging positive change, helping you to listen inwardly to what’s right for you. Wellness time for you happens naturally when you slowdown and simply meditate. The benefits are unlimited and have the potential for inner healing, and stress release. |

Pranayama (prana=life force, yama=lengthen) is a regulation and practice to move or control the breath. The first thing we do once outside the womb is take a breath. When we take our last breath, we die. We breathe life force into our physical bodies! Breath is life, and when you become more aware of your breathing, you notice how it changes as we roll through different thoughts and emotions. There are many breathing exercises, which address healing for the physical, mental, and emotional bodies. You are temporarily controlling the way the life force flows through the body creating a calmer mind and it is a precursor for meditation. A spiritual coaching meditation session with me is different for everyone. It all depends on how you are feeling, what needs to be addressed and then the flow begins designed especially for you. It’s a calm, gentle space where you can explore your inner self and come to know yourself in a whole new way. No matter what is going on there will be a point where you can come back to your center and experience different levels of consciousness with time and patience. At times, we can chant mantras, use various mudras (hand gestures or hand configurations) and I may use crystals to enhance the energy, as well as soft background music. The spiritual coaching naturally evolves in each session opening you up to greater possibilities within your life. It can evolve from guided to silent, with or without pranayama; the session develops to your needs as you progress.
